Happy Sunday pretties!
I wanted to do a quick product review for you guys today. I bought the Pores Be Pure Skin Clarifying Mud Mask from Ulta about three weeks ago. I’m going to be honest and tell you that I purchased it purely on the fact that the pink packaging was adorable and yes, sometimes I buy things based on the look. Don’t we all? (I hope I’m not the only one.)
Anyway, I brought it home with me and immediately started a hot bubble bath and proceeded to remove my makeup. I was so excited to see what this product had to offer. On the tube it says Strawberry + Yarrow and, well, that sounds super healthy. I slathered a light layer of the mud mask onto my clean skin and waited the recommended five minutes. Two minutes in I noticed a slight burning sensation. At four minutes I could barely stand the burning.
I started to read the back and noticed an ingredient called Stearic Acid. Sounds scary right? So I immediately washed my face of the mask and decided to not try it again until I knew what was causing the burning. Figuring that it was most likely the acid ingredient I went to trusty Google. I actually learned that Stearic Acid is derived from plant fat. It’s a natural acid. The mask also includes a Salicylic Acid. I have used many products with this in it and have never had trouble. Salicylic Acid is an ingredient that helps clear acne.
A couple weeks later after a serious breakout occured (hormonal or stress breakout), I decided to give it another go in hopes that it would do what it says it does. Unclogs pores and eliminates impurities. I used it twice in one week and my breakout only got worse.
The 3.4 oz adorable pink bottle failed me. The burning occurred each time I used it and it didn’t clear my skin. All in all, I did not enjoy the results from this mud masks. I’m not bashing the brand. I’m still interested in trying some of their other products, but I’m definitely not a huge fan of this particular product.
Have you tried any of these products? What were your results?
I hope you all have a wonderful lazy Sunday filled with coffee and rest!
