Love is in the air. Everywhere I look around. Hey everyone! Okay so Valentine’s day is still two weeks away. However, I was stumbling around Walgreen’s the other day looking for the perfect Valentine’s day eye shadow to complete my date night look. When I passed the Maybelline Blushing Nudes palette I just couldn’t resist. Okay, I have to admit it wasn’t necessarily the colors in the palette that caught my eye. It was the beautiful and sweet packaging. It’s just so pretty right? I’m a sucker for packaging. What they say is true about never judging a book by it’s cover. Just because the case was cute doesn’t mean the contents in it were. So here it is, my honest review of the Maybelline Blushed Nudes Palette.
There seems to be a lot of controversy surrounding these eye shadows and I can definitely see why. After posting my Instagram picture, I had quite a few comments about the lack of pigment this palette displays. I am here to tell you, these comments were true. While I love many many Maybelline New York products, this one didn’t seem to understand me as much.
When I got home from work I ripped into my Walgreen’s back pulled out the (what I thought would be the holy grail of Valentine’s Day eye shadows) and began to unwrap it. After snapping an endless amount of photos, I readied my eye shadow brush and began to dip it into the shimmering shades.
After applying my primer, I popped the shimmery pink shade all over my lid. Hmm, did I even put it on? Where is it? There’s not even a highlight?! What is happening??!!
Okay so that’s dramatic. But seriously. The shade was nearly non existent on my eye lid.
‘So that’s a light shade, I bet the darker shades will look fabulous,’ I thought to myself as I started to apply the deep brown. Okay you can see it, but not very much. Yep, even the darkest shade barely showed up.
After brushing on four different hues from the palette with three different brushes, I finally managed to get somewhat of a defined shadow but not much. This palette was not my cup of coffee. I love highly pigmented shadows and these were not.
Maybelline, it’s okay. We can’t win them all. This girl just recommends more pigment packed into your adorably packaged palettes. Thank you and I still love you.
Have any of you tried this palette? What are your thoughts? Am I being dramatic or were you super disappointed as well?
