No one ever said it was going to be easy to achieve the perfect work/life balance. Often times we find ourselves going through the day-to-day motions and we end up overlooking our health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle when we are working that 9-5 Monday through Friday job. Personally, I can go days without drinking more than six ounces of water when I’m having a crazy work week. I find myself stopping at the nearest Donut Shop to grab a quick bite. (You guys, I like donuts. But, who doesn’t.) By the time Friday comes around I’m dealing with a bad cold because I just didn’t take care of myself. I have recently made a few healthy lifestyle changes to get my mind, body, and soul back in shape so I can rock my work! Make Time For YOU

Okay, so this one seems like a give in. However, we spend the majority of our lives making time for everyone else. We make time for our bosses, our spouses, our children, our friends. We don’t always think about carving out time for ourselves each day and this can take a toll on your mind, body, and soul.Healthy Habits For A Busy Schedule

You can get serious about making time for you by writing it down in your daily planner. Take a Sunday afternoon to pull out your planner and block off some time for yourself each day. Yes, every single day. This is super important to your livelihood. I just started implementing this in my life. See how I make time for myself below to get some ideas.

Schedule ME Time For A Healthy Habit

This can be anywhere from an hour to five hours. Take your lunch break without making plans with coworkers. Hit up a Pilates class on the way home. Tell your spouse that you are taking an hour to watch a Gilmore Girls episode and sip your favorite red wine. Ask a friend or family member to watch the kids for a couple of hours so you can go to a much-needed retail therapy appointment.

Stay Hydrated

I cannot stress how important this is. I recently started a challenge for myself to start drinking at least two liters of water and I will tell you why. Rewind two months ago when I was brand new at my 8-5 job in a completely new field to me. I had a new schedule of waking up early. I wanted to absorb every bit of information at my new job that often times I’d forget to drink water completely. I was living off of two lattes a day barely eating a real meal. Two weeks in, I got super sick. I was getting a cold every weekend and having stomach issues. I was stressed out, adjusting to a new schedule, experiencing frequent breakouts, low energy, painful headaches, and not staying hydrated. It was no bueno. So I started this challenge and immediately felt a difference. The headaches went away, my skin cleared up, and I felt more energy and positive throughout the day. I even invested in a water bottle to hold myself accountable. That’s right, I took money from my latte fund to buy a water bottle. You can find some killer water bottles below. My Mom and I swear by Contigo water bottles! your water stays cold forever! Drinking water is so important to anyone’s health. So, drink up!


Okay, so I’m not the most fit person around. But, I do realize the importance exercise has on the mind and body. I don’t hit the gym everyday, but I have made a point to incorporate some sort of exercise into my daily routine. Even if it’s just 20-30 minutes a day. Whether it’s walking my dog or doing a set of crunches and squats I am always looking for something to get my heart rate up and my mind and body healthy. I am looking into starting a yoga class! This is the most crucial part to staying healthy throughout your busy week. Through all of the crazy stressful moments, you need to laugh. This releases endorphins that improve your attitude. We have to have fun you guys! Life is too short. Take a few minutes out of your day to watch these hilarious dog videos to improve your health.


In order to keep your mind healthy and positive, you have to DO WHAT YOU LOVE! This is the best and most creative way to keep your mind right. For me, it’s blogging. I come home every day after work to a glass of red and my laptop and I just let my juices flow! That creative release immediately improves my mood. So, whatever it is, make time for your hobby. Do you love running? Maybe you’re obsessed with painting and becoming the next Picasso. Or maybe your hobby is snuggling with your sweet fur babies. Make time for that.
