Do you ever have one of those weeks where everything seems to go wrong? Let me tell you how those weeks go for me. Picture this, it’s Monday morning and I hit the snooze button. Not only do I hit that snooze button once. I hit it multiple times. The next thing I know, I’m late getting up and I have absolutely no time to blow dry my hair. So, I show up to work with damp and tangled hair. I know, as a beauty blogger, I’m cringing as I type this. I’m wearing a very plain and not so professional outfit because, well, I didn’t have time to plan my outfit. As a fashion graduate, I want to slap myself on the hand. I don’t have time to get my morning latte or cup of Joe so I’m sitting at my desk feeling like a complete failure. I’m not productive, I’m dehydrated, I’m hungry, I’m super insecure, and I feel so gross about my whole life just because I haven’t practiced self-care this week. Do you ever have those kind of days? Or weeks? We all do. We are only human. That’s why I wanted to share with you all why self care is so important and why you should practice it. Why Self-Care Is So Important
It Boosts Your Confidence
Practicing self-care can strongly boost your confidence. When you feel good mentally, spiritually, and physically, your confidence is at an all time high. Like, you have your shit together and that’s awesome right? You have to take care of yourself in order to maintain that confidence.
When you take care of your mind, body, and soul, you are in a super healthy state. I like to chug water and eat a healthy snack when I feel like I have let my health fall by the wayside. Plus, do you ever eat a donut and forget your workout and just feel like a total slob? Yeah, me too. I really like donuts you guys. So, I have to practice extra self-care. Adding veggies to your diet and taking a long walk can do a body good and increase your energy levels.
When you are taking care of yourself, you have more drive to achieve the things you really want to succeed at. I find that I am way more successful when I have myself in mind. Be sure to get clear on what your goals are and take care of yourself so you can start crushing those goals!
Like I mentioned in the scenario in the first paragraph, when I’m not looking and feeling my best, I lose productivity. My mood level drops and I feel like nothing matters. When I’m taking care of myself, I feel productive and I get stuff done!
It’s important to practice self-care so that you are genuinely happy. Take time out of your day to do what you love and take care of yourself so you can get happy and stay happy. After all, life is too short to ask for anything less.

Daily Walks With Your Furry Friend
Okay, if you don’t have a furry friend, don’t worry. You can do this alone or with a pal. excercise is very important for your mental and physical health. Take your dog or friend on a walk to your nearest park or down to your favorite coffee spot or go hike up a mountain like me and my dog Chuck did below. Get those endorphins going. You won’t regret it.
Apply A Face Mask
This is one of my favorite things to do when I’m feeling icky. I pick out my favorite facial mask or create a DIY mask like this one and apply it while I sip on a glass of wine. I then proceed to listen to a super relaxing Chakra Balancing Pandora Station and relax until my timer goes off. The mask leaves me feeling super refreshed and relaxed.
Clean Out Your Car
Okay, this one sounds silly right? I don’t know about you, but when I’m not taking care of myself, my car takes the hit. When I’m not motivated and I’m feeling down and I haven’t practiced my self-care, my car gets TRASHED!!! Don’t judge me… Am I the only one? Cleaning out my car makes me feel accomplished and confident. It’s very important to me.
Take A Long Drive
It’s important to step away from the everyday hustle and bustle that is life. I find taking a drive to a far away place helps get my mind right. This past weekend my boyfriend and I took our pup and headed to the mountains to clear our minds. Not only is it relaxing, you also get to see things you’ve never seen and you go home feeling like a world traveler. Who doesn’t want to be a world traveler?!
Drink A Fancy Latte
As you human beings, we seem to put a lot of pressure on ourselves. Don’t eat this and don’t drink that because society says you can’t if you ever want to stay skinny. So untrue. Maybe drinking a fancy latte won’t keep you skinny if you drink them daily (like I do some weeks) but, you freaking deserve a fancy latte! Go get one. It’ll make you feel like you’re spoiling yourself. So, double up on that espresso with caramel syrup and whipped cream. You can also indulge at home by whipping up a delicious cappuccino with this espresso machine .
