Do you have those days where you wake up in a negative mindset and your whole day quickly goes south? When we have a negative head space, we tend to manifest negativity in everything we do that day. That’s why I am giving you 5 ways to feel more positive today.

1.) Lose the snooze

Make sure you get out of bed when your alarm goes off. I am the WORST at  hitting the snooze button! When I over sleep and don’t make time to get ready in the morning, my day starts on a negative note. It is proven that when you wake up early, your day is more productive and your mindset is more positive because you accomplish so much. Not only that, but it gives you time to eat a good breakfast or meditate or do your makeup and feel good!

2.) Write in a gratitude journal

Writing down what you are grateful for helps you remember all of the things you have to be positive about. This is a feel good tip. Remind yourself of why your life is beautiful. Dwell on the positive as opposed to constantly thinking about the negative aspects in your life.

3.) Meditate

This might not be for everyone. Meditating takes a strong will to focus. I have tried a few meditations that have completely transformed my mind and created a more positive space for my day. My friend also turned me on to this amazing app called Headspace that helps beginners get into the habit of meditating.

4.)Plan

When you have your day planned out and you stick to those plans you feel a sense of accomplishment. This creates a positive mindset and a great start to your day. I always like to plan the week ahead in my My Happy Planner to stay super focused on everything I need to get done. This sets a positive tone for the entire week.

5.) Retrain your brain

This is my number one tip for staying positive. Push away the negative thoughts. This can seem difficult, especially if you are going through some huge challenges. I learned this tip from my sister who heard it from life coach, Mel Robbins. It’s called the Five Second Rule. This rule is actually made to help you get things done that you do not want to. The moment you think, “I don’t want to do that,” you count down from five to one and when you get to one you have to get up and go do whatever it is you didn’t want to do. I used this rule but changed it a bit to help get into a positive mindset. The moment a negative thought comes into your mind, count down to one from five and when you get to zero, you have to move on to a positive thought.

Trying to remain positive all the time can be exhausting and quite impossible. The sooner you train your mind to create positive thoughts, the sooner it becomes easier to get rid of the negative. It’ll take some practice, but, if you stick to these five tips, you will be well on your way to creating positivity on a daily basis.
