How To Succeed In Your Life And Business

How To Succeed In Your Life And Business

Do you ever feel like you are being left in the dust by all of your successful friends in the online community or in your everyday life? You’re not alone. In fact, most people feel this way right before they see their own success come through. Instead of being jealous of your boss girl friends, get excited! Success is just around the corner. I want to give you some insight if you are currently going through this phase in your business or life. Keep reading if you would like to know how to succeed in your life and business.

How To Succeed In Life And Business

1.) Get clear on WHY you are doing what you’re doing

You can relate this to your business as well as your life goals. WHY are you starting a business? WHY are you taking the next step in your business? WHY are you planning on getting fit or doing more outdoor activities in your life? Whatever you are choosing to start, know your WHY.

Okay, sounds easy right? No. This should be challenging! Dig deep. You want to write down every details that makes up your WHY. It shouldn’t be as simple as “Because I want to make loads of money.” It should be more like this: “I started my business so that I can inspire others and make an impact on them by teaching them how they can be the best version of themselves. I want them to feel a sense of joy and purpose once I’m done coaching them.”

Your WHY should of meaning other than dollar signs.

2.) Know your worth

This step is more than just knowing how to charge your clients. It’s knowing how much value you bring to your clients or customers. Why does your client need you? What problem do you solve? Are you worth their time? I mean, of course you are… but, do YOU know that? You need to know your worth in able to help others find theirs.

Once you know your worth, you’ll find it much easier to price your packages and services. It’s like a win win, right?

How To Succeed In Your Life And Business

3.) Be your own authentic self (Don’t try to be someone you’re not)

This one is huge!!! When I first starting my coaching business, I was following every other coaches move. I didn’t know what I was doing then, so, I figured if I do what everyone else does, I should be good, right? WRONG. I found a loss of creativity. I was never meant to be a follower. I found myself hiding my true message because no one else was saying it and I felt like I needed to say what others were saying to be successful.

Be true to yourself. There is someone(s) out there who needs your message. Like, hard core. Don’t deprive them of that. Don’t deprive yourself like that.

4.) Don’t EVER think you’re not good enough

This is common sense… At least, it should be. The second you tell yourself you cannot do something, is the second you cannot do something. Stay strong. There will always be self-doubt here and there. Just remember to go back to your WHY and forge on.

Keep trucking because, giiiirlllll, this world needs you!!! They need to hear your message and live their purpose out. Don’t forget what you are doing and why you are doing it. There is no option to think you’re not good enough. We are only as good as we tell ourselves.

5.) Just keep swimming

Things will come up. There will be days where you want to climb under your covers, chug your latte, and call it a day. You know, all of the many different hats you wear can be exhausting! You will feel like throwing in the towel. Or you’ll just cry all day and kick yourself in the head because you still haven’t seen your success. These days will come and go. Just keep swimming. Swim against the current that is life. Don’t give up. Success is right around the corner.

What are some ways you stay positive when you feel like success is out of reach?

What It Takes To Be A Blogger

What It Takes To Be A Blogger

Any blogger will tell you that blogging is hard work and it takes a lot of time and money. Is it true? Of course. Nothing comes easy. What if you are one of those people who doesn’t think they can be a blogger? It’s intimidating right? There are all of those super successful bloggers and you are over here like, I could never be successful at that. Or maybe you think you are a pro blogger but you’re not seeing any success. Keep reading below if you’d like to know what it takes to be a blogger.

What It Takes To Be A Blogger

So, here’s my full and honest disclosure. I am a new blogger (by six months) and I have not yet succeeded in my blogging business. That’s right, I have this fancy website, I post on every social media platform and then some, yet, I’m not making money. Okay, so I’ve made fifty cents. So, you might be thinking, ‘How does she think she can tell me what it takes to be a blogger?’ You’re right, I’m not super experienced, I’m not making money, and I still have A TON to learn. However, I have learned SO much about blogging and what it takes to be successful. It is still a work in process but I know that once I implement everything I’ve been learning, I will find success. You can too! You can read about how I started my blog in one week here.

Working On Your Website

To be a blogger, you must first perfect your blog. I’m talking, tweak, re-tweak, and tweak some more. My website has been redone a hundred times and continually add to it and edit it. You will learn so many different ways on how to make your blog noticeable and you will implement these techniques over and over again. The blogging world is always adapting and we must adapt with it. I learned SO much from enrolling in Blog Boss Babe, a blogging course. This course has so much information and is always updating to stay relevant with the ever changing blogging market. I knew this course was right for me when I saw the value and price. I have completely transformed my blog game. You can too. Yes, I make a commission from this link if you choose to sign up. What It Takes To Be A Blogger

Hard Working Attitude

You cannot go into blogging thinking it’s going to be super easy and you will barely lift a finger. Sure, there are some bloggers that become successful almost instantly from viral posts. This is definitely not always the case. In fact, it’s very rare. It takes patience and a ton of hard work. You guys, this takes hours upon hours a week. Let me put it this way, I have a full-time job and I come home from work and work on my blog until bedtime and I am still not making money. Now, some of you won’t have to work as many hours as me. I came into this blogging thing blind and knew nothing about blogging. So, it’s taking a little longer than most. You can get some major motivation from the books below.

This is where I tend to struggle the most. I find myself thinking, ‘Is this really worth it? I work so much and am not yet reaping the benefits. Will I ever? I’m human. These thoughts will come into anyone’s mind. It is important to hold onto optimism. When you are feeling down and unsuccessful, just remember, there are thousands and thousands of successful bloggers out there. YOU CAN DO THIS. Don’t give up. Stay positive.

Willingness To Learn

You will not be successful if you already think you know everything there is to know about blogging. This is a fact. There is so much to learn and you will never stop learning. Be willing to learn and take anyone and everyone’s advice. Trust me, this will pay off. Below are a couple of e-books on how to start a blog.

What It Takes To Be A Blogger

Blogging is hard. You wear a million and one hats. Remember, when starting out, you are the Photographer, the writer, the lawyer, the production crew, the video editor, the social media marketer, the president of your company, the graphic designer, and so much more. It’s hard work, it costs money, it’s an investment of your time. Is it going to be hard? Are you going to cry? Are you not always going to be confident? Are you going to struggle? Yes. Will it be worth it? Most definitely. Don’t give up.

How To Receive Free Beauty Products To Review

Have you ever wondered how all of those super famous beauty bloggers are always showing off their free products from huge beauty brands? Like, how do we get in that circle of love, right? I have been getting so many questions from you guys asking me how I get products to review. Well, I’m here today to share with you all how to receive free beauty products to review.

How To Receive Free Beauty Products To Review

How To Receive Free Beauty Products To Review

Sign Up For Influenster

Most of you have heard of Influenster, an app that you write product reviews on and help answer other beauties questions. The more active you are on this app, the more you can win “contests”. I know what you’re thinking… Great, Cassie, another app I have to download and waste endless hours answering surveys and reviewing products just to “maybe” win free product. NO! I promise you, it’s legit. I was receiving free products monthly even when I first started my journey as a beauty blogger. If you want to get started and receive free products you can sign up here.

Received complimentary of Influenster for review.

Go Talk To Local Beauty Bars

Okay, this one is a little less orthodox but it truly works! Local hair salons, brow bars, makeup boutiques. They all want you to try out their products so you will keep coming back and referring friends. This works really well if you are looking for samples to try. I always go in fully prepared. Learn about their brand and business, take your business cards, and let them know that you would love to spread the word about their wonderful products on your blog.

Don’t Be Afraid To Ask

When I first started my blog I always thought I had to have thousands of page views per month to even consider reaching out to brands and asking for free product to review. I was so wrong! I have sent many emails to brands that I would love to review. Have they all emailed back? No way. But, some brands did! I was so ecstatic. All you have to do is craft a professional email explaining how you would share their brand/products, who your audience is, why it would benefit them, and let them know how much you love their brand and how their brand is relative to your blog. You will be quite surprised at how many brands want to send you free stuff!

Ask For A Partnership

Again, don’t be afraid to reach out to brands that you may see yourself working with. Reach out and ask to partner with a brand you love. Let them know how they can benefit from your partnership. For example, I recently reached out to a vegan beauty brand to see if they would like to partner with me on my End Animal Testing Campaign. I let them know my mission and goal and I told them how being a part of my campaign would benefit them. They are a brand that is a huge advocate for cruelty free products so I knew they would relate. They agreed and I am proud to announce that they will be sending out my newsletter to all their clients! They were also kind enough to send me free products to review on my blog. I will be doing a full feature on them soon so stay tuned!

You don’t have to have one million followers to get free makeup. You just have to be open to receiving and work hard on reaching out.

How I Started My Beauty Blog In One Week

How I Started My Beauty Blog In One Week

Hello hello hello! Most likely you are here because you are looking to start your very own beauty blog and you just don’t know where to start. Perhaps you’re thinking it will take a ton of time to get up and running and even more time to keep it going. Well, only part of that is true. It does in fact take some time to keep a blog running. Especially if your blog is your business. However, I am here to tell you that you can start a blog in no time! If you’d like to know how I started my beauty blog in one week keep on reading.

How I Started My Beauty Blog In One Week

Okay so you spend hours on end watching famous beauty bloggers on YouTube and spend even more hours checking out their even more mesmerizing Instagram feeds. Now you’ve decided you’d like to have your own swoon worthy blog, YouTube channel, and Instagram feed. But how do you start? How much does it cost? Will it be successful? In this post, I will outline the exact details of how I started my beauty blog in one week, how I keep it running, and how much it truly costs to have your own blogging business. Below is an outline of what tasks I had to complete in order to start my blog in such a short amount of time.

How I Started My Beauty Blog In One Week

Glittered By Cassie started five months ago when I decided I wanted to start my own blog business and eventually pay off my crippling student loans before I’m seventy, because let’s be real, that sh$t is expensive. I have worked at various cosmetics counters for several years and I love helping women learn about makeup and skin care. I decided it would be a win win. My blog would run to hopefully impact women’s lives and I would have a little extra cash to put towards my bills. (Oh, adult life.)

I had SO many doubts you guys. Like, all of the doubts. You see, I’m a Libra, and naturally I procrastinate. My mind is full of ideas and I’ve tried my hand at entrepreneurship several times before. I never went through with any of it. This time was going to be different though. I was going to do it. No. Matter. What. I was determined. ‘Don’t give up Cassie!’ I thought to myself. Here we are five months in. Going for it.

How I Started My Beauty Blog In One Week

So, here’s what you need to start your dream blog in one week.

A Computer

So, if you’re still awesome old school and go to your nearest public library to hop on the inter webs, then kudos to you! Seriously, I think that is freaking awesome. But, if you are more of a homebody and want to blog in the coziness of your own space, then I recommend getting yourself a computer if you don’t already have one. I have this trusty HP Stream Laptop PC laptop that is super lightweight which makes it easy to take with me to the nearest coffee shops. While we all dream of having the super sleek MacBook Air, sometimes it’s just not in the budget. Especially starting out.

How I Started My Beauty Blog In One Week

A Website

Yes, you need a website to run your blog. No, you don’t need to hire a techy super genius to set it up. It’s actually quite simple. There are so many different platforms that you can set up your blog. Most of these platforms are FREE. You heard that right. Here are a few that are user-friendly and free.

I started with and have since switched to self hosting through Site Ground on This platform does cost money, but I suggest starting a free blog on or any of the above sites I mentioned. WordPress has been super easy for me. You should know that the free version of WordPress does not include a domain name. When you set up your blog the url will show as You can purchase a domain name for a very low price on However, if you decide to invest in a self hosted site, I highly recommend going through Site Ground. Their customer service is amazing! Any time I have a question I just type it into their chat box and receive an answer within seconds. You also receive your domain name free if you choose to go through them. You can get started here if you plan on investing the money.

Okay, so once you have your website secured, you will want to install a theme, which will be the look of your blog. Both WordPress platforms have tons of free and totally awesome themes. Once you set up your theme, it’s time to create your first post. This is the fun part.

A Niche

So, not all bloggers swear by having a niche while others think you must have a niche to be successful. I started out blogging with my niche in mind, Beauty. However, I have since added Lifestyle to my blog. My opinion on the whole having a niche versus not having a niche is this: If you are passionate about only one niche then stick with it. If you find you have tons of ideas in a plethora of niches then you should definitely incorporate those into your blog. Readers can sense when you are running out of material in one niche. Writing about multiple subjects really help your creative juices flow. Once you have come up with several topics you are passionate about then open that laptop and get started.

An Audience

This is the most challenging part when you are first launching your blog. You have so many amazing things to say on your blog and all you want to do is to gain millions of viewers over night. Unfortunately, that is not always the reality. When I hit publish on my first post, it took a whole day just to see five page views. I was crushed. I had just typed up the most fabulous blog post with gorgeous photos to go along with it and I had only received five views?! It doesn’t matter how amazing your content is. If you don’t have an audience, you don’t have a blog. You have a diary. You can gain an audience by doing many things. I started off with creating a social media presence.

A Social Media Presence

For those of you who spend all day on Twitter, tweeting about everything, well you are set! For those who cringe at the thought of posting your thoughts on social media once a week, you may have some work to do. In order for people to start seeing your blog, you need to spread the word. Think of this as free advertising for your blog. I recommend setting up an account with these social media platforms.

  • Instagram
  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Snapchat

These are just a few. I set up an account for each of these platforms and that is the main way I get traffic on my blog. Instagram is my favorite way to share my blog as I am more visual. Twitter is a great way to interact with others in your niche. Facebook is a great way to share your posts and announcements. According to many successful bloggers, Pinterest is the biggest traffic driving factor. I am still mastering my Pinterest techniques and feel very optimistic about gaining a lot of success from this platform. I also use Tailwind to schedule all of my pins so I don’t have to spend hours upon hours constantly pinning. This tool is a huge time saver an a very small investment. Super affordable. You can sign up here if you are ready.

A Newsletter

Creating an email newsletter for your subscribers can be so beneficial to your blog. Your readers won’t miss a thing when they are receiving your emails each week. This is a great way to let your loyal readers know about any upcoming blog posts or courses. I set up a free MailChimp account to help me do this. All you have to do is design a campaign and a newsletter, and then upload your blog subscribers, and hit schedule.

How I Started My Beauty Blog In One Week

Facebook Groups

Requesting an invite to Facebook groups has been a lifesaving decision when it comes to support. Blogging can be very overwhelming. There are a million things you need to learn and implement and sometimes you just feel like it’s too much. I remember when I first started my blog I felt like pulling out my hair! Who do I ask questions when I have no idea what I’m doing?! I joined a few blogging Facebook groups and instantly felt relief. Not only can you ask other bloggers your biggest questions, but you also get an entire group of support from bloggers who know what you’re going through. I can honestly say that without these groups, I would still have no idea what I’m doing. Here are some groups I recommend.

A Never Give Up Attitude

This is the number one thing you need to start and run your own blog. If you are blogging to make money, then you need a never give up attitude. The mindset that no matter what you are going to persevere. Blogging is not easy. Not at all. It takes time, investments, and more time. There are days when I want to cry, scream, throw my laptop across the room. But, I will never give up. You can truly do anything you set your mind to. You have to believe in yourself. You have to set yourself up for success and cut yourself some slack. Don’t forget the reason you started. Your blog is going to rock! Remember to not burn yourself out. Make time for yourself so you don’t end up resenting your blog. You can read my tips on healthy habits here.

How Much Does It Cost?

Make a small investment to start

The cost of starting your blog can vary depending on what choices you make. Below is how much money I spent to get my blog up and running.

Computer- I already had a computer, luckily, but this very inexpensive laptop costed me  $220 brand new. It is less expensive now.

Website/HostingSite Ground $59.40/annual (free domain) self hosted on wordpress .org (free)

Logo- This is completely optional. You don’t need a logo, and often times you can create your own logo. I decided to outsource this to a graphic designer. $45

Tailwind – This program is a time saver when it comes to pinning your posts and other pins. It takes me about an hour and fifteen minutes one day a week to schedule all of my pins. $15.00/month.

Total: $339.40

How To Stay Healthy On A Busy Schedule

Healthy Habits For A Busy Schedule

No one ever said it was going to be easy to achieve the perfect work/life balance. Often times we find ourselves going through the day-to-day motions and we end up overlooking our health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle when we are working that 9-5 Monday through Friday job. Personally, I can go days without drinking more than six ounces of water when I’m having a crazy work week. I find myself stopping at the nearest Donut Shop to grab a quick bite. (You guys, I like donuts. But, who doesn’t.) By the time Friday comes around I’m dealing with a bad cold because I just didn’t take care of myself. I have recently made a few healthy lifestyle changes to get my mind, body, and soul back in shape so I can rock my work! In this post, I’m going to teach you a few healthy habits for a busy schedule.

Healthy Habits For A Busy Schedule

Make Time For YOU

Okay, so this one seems like a give in. However, we spend the majority of our lives making time for everyone else. We make time for our bosses, our spouses, our children, our friends. We don’t always think about carving out time for ourselves each day and this can take a toll on your mind, body, and soul.Healthy Habits For A Busy Schedule

You can get serious about making time for you by writing it down in your daily planner. Take a Sunday afternoon to pull out your planner and block off some time for yourself each day. Yes, every single day. This is super important to your livelihood. I just started implementing this in my life. See how I make time for myself below to get some ideas.

Schedule ME Time For A Healthy Habit

Need a planner? Why not plan in style with the adorable Kate Spade Planners. (I’m kind of a HUGE Kate Spade fan!) Click below for yours.

This can be anywhere from an hour to five hours. Take your lunch break without making plans with coworkers. Hit up a Pilates class on the way home. Tell your spouse that you are taking an hour to watch a Gilmore Girls episode and sip your favorite red wine. Ask a friend or family member to watch the kids for a couple of hours so you can go to a much-needed retail therapy appointment.

Stay Hydrated

I cannot stress how important this is. I recently started a challenge for myself to start drinking at least two liters of water and I will tell you why. Rewind two months ago when I was brand new at my 8-5 job in a completely new field to me. I had a new schedule of waking up early. I wanted to absorb every bit of information at my new job that often times I’d forget to drink water completely. I was living off of two lattes a day barely eating a real meal. Two weeks in, I got super sick. I was getting a cold every weekend and having stomach issues. I was stressed out, adjusting to a new schedule, experiencing frequent breakouts, low energy, painful headaches, and not staying hydrated. It was no bueno. So I started this challenge and immediately felt a difference. The headaches went away, my skin cleared up, and I felt more energy and positive throughout the day. I even invested in a water bottle to hold myself accountable. That’s right, I took money from my latte fund to buy a water bottle. You can find some killer water bottles below. My Mom and I swear by Contigo water bottles! your water stays cold forever! Drinking water is so important to anyone’s health. So, drink up!

Okay, so I’m not the most fit person around. But, I do realize the importance exercise has on the mind and body. I don’t hit the gym everyday, but I have made a point to incorporate some sort of exercise into my daily routine. Even if it’s just 20-30 minutes a day. Whether it’s walking my dog or doing a set of crunches and squats I am always looking for something to get my heart rate up and my mind and body healthy. I am looking into starting a yoga class! So, if any of my readers have any recommendations, I would love to hear them. If you want to get your butt into gear with working out, I recommend INSANITY ! I’m no fitness buff but that shit is hard and gives you serious results! Check out this link to learn some awesome workouts you will love.

This is the most crucial part to staying healthy throughout your busy week. Through all of the crazy stressful moments, you need to laugh. This releases endorphins that improve your attitude. We have to have fun you guys! Life is too short. Take a few minutes out of your day to watch these hilarious dog videos to improve your health.

In order to keep your mind healthy and positive, you have to DO WHAT YOU LOVE! This is the best and most creative way to keep your mind right. For me, it’s blogging. I come home every day after work to a glass of red and my laptop and I just let my juices flow! That creative release immediately improves my mood. So, whatever it is, make time for your hobby. Do you love running? Maybe you’re obsessed with painting and becoming the next Picasso. Or maybe your hobby is snuggling with your sweet fur babies. Make time for that.

What healthy habits do you have in order to stay happy throughout your busy week? I would love to hear about your routines!
