I don’t know about you, but I love a rich Pumpkin Spice Latte or Caramel Hazelnut Latte in the fall. If you were to tell me that I could have a PSL during July, I wouldn’t order one. They are only appropriate during the fall season. Grab your favorite fall flavored coffee or espresso drink, throw on a cute cozy scarf, and head to the park for some fun in the leaves!

1.) Lose the snooze

Make sure you get out of bed when your alarm goes off. I am the WORST at  hitting the snooze button! When I over sleep and don’t make time to get ready in the morning, my day starts on a negative note. It is proven that when you wake up early, your day is more productive and your mindset is more positive because you accomplish so much. Not only that, but it gives you time to eat a good breakfast or meditate or do your makeup and feel good!

2.) Write in a gratitude journal

Writing down what you are grateful for helps you remember all of the things you have to be positive about. This is a feel good tip. Remind yourself of why your life is beautiful. Dwell on the positive as opposed to constantly thinking about the negative aspects in your life.

3.) Meditate

This might not be for everyone. Meditating takes a strong will to focus. I have tried a few meditations that have completely transformed my mind and created a more positive space for my day. My friend also turned me on to this amazing app called Headspace that helps beginners get into the habit of meditating.


When you have your day planned out and you stick to those plans you feel a sense of accomplishment. This creates a positive mindset and a great start to your day. I always like to plan the week ahead in my My Happy Planner to stay super focused on everything I need to get done. This sets a positive tone for the entire week.

5 Ways To Feel Positive Today

5.) Retrain your brain

This is my number one tip for staying positive. Push away the negative thoughts. This can seem difficult, especially if you are going through some huge challenges. I learned this tip from my sister who heard it from life coach, Mel Robbins. It’s called the Five Second Rule. This rule is actually made to help you get things done that you do not want to. The moment you think, “I don’t want to do that,” you count down from five to one and when you get to one you have to get up and go do whatever it is you didn’t want to do. I used this rule but changed it a bit to help get into a positive mindset. The moment a negative thought comes into your mind, count down to one from five and when you get to zero, you have to move on to a positive thought.

Trying to remain positive all the time can be exhausting and quite impossible. The sooner you train your mind to create positive thoughts, the sooner it becomes easier to get rid of the negative. It’ll take some practice, but, if you stick to these five tips, you will be well on your way to creating positivity on a daily basis.

My typical mornings used to consist of waking up early just so I could stop at the nearest coffee joint for my morning jolt before work. Every morning. You see, I’m not one of those super thrifty people who makes a pot of coffee at home every morning and pours it into their super cute to go mugs. Don’t get me wrong, I love coffee and I love super cute to go mugs. However, I love lattes more! There’s something about the rich espresso and strong aroma that just completes my morning. Well, you can imagine, buying one latte per day (sometime’s two, don’t judge me) gets quite spendy. Seriously, though. When I came back from my vacation I was forced to check my bank account and figure out where my money was going on a day to day basis. I was super disgusted at how much money I spend on lattes per month. Seriously, it’s so disgusting. So, I decided to make a lifestyle change. I looked at recipes on Pinterest (because where else would you find out how to make the perfect latte without an espresso machine?) I found the best way to make a latte without an espresso maker and today I’m sharing it with you.

Get your supplies

How To Make The Perfect Latte Without An Espresso Machine

Super dark coffee beans (grounded) or espresso beans (grounded)

Milk (I prefer whole milk as it is easier to create a nice frothy foam)

Flavored syrup (optional, you know, for when you’re feeling really fancy.)

A Pot

A Coffee Maker



Brew your coffee

You will want to double the amount of coffee beans for a stronger (espresso like) taste.

I suggest 4 tablespoons of coffee grounds per 6 fl. oz of water. It really depends on how strong of a latte you want. P.s. I like my lattes STRONG!

The fun part? You can do this with ANY coffee pot! However, I’m LOVING my Mr. Coffee. Always have, always will.

Create your froth

While your coffee (espresso) is brewing, you’ll want to start frothing your milk.

If you are like me, you LOVE a frothy latte. I live for that stuff. Extra, extra foam please! Anyway, how do you create froth without one of those super scary espresso frothers attached to an espresso machine?

I get a jar and pour the amount of milk I want in my latte, into the jar. You will want to shake this jar of milk vigorously for about 60 seconds. I know, that sounds intense, but, do you want extra foam or not?

Want to get real fancy and try out an Electric Milk Frother ? I’m going to invest in one after my aunt let me test hers out. Talk about fast and easy foam! You can grab one here if you you want to speed up the process.

After shaking your milk in the jar, pour the milk into a pot and heat for two minutes on medium heat or until warm. Do NOT boil your milk.

Add your flavoring

This part all depends on how sweet you like your latte. For me, I just eyeball it and pour in a tiny bit. I like the taste of strong coffee/espresso so I don’t flood my lattes with syrups. I recommend one to two tablespoons of your desired syrup or one teaspoon of sugar.

I’m loving Torani Syrups at the moment. I love the hazelnut syrup!

You will want to add your syrup/sugar in your coffee mug first and then pour your hot coffee in. Stir.

 Pour your milk

As you probably know, pouring milk is a serious art. Latte Art anyone? While I have not advanced to creating beautiful hearts in my latte yet, I get the job done with pouring the milk in and topping off my latte with the froth.

Take a spoon to block your foam while pouring the milk into your coffee. Then, top your latte off with your desired amount of froth.

This is my opinion on the product. I love how long this color stays on my lips. It doesn’t dry my lips out after applying the moisturizing gloss, and it doesn’t leave anything on my coffee cup! I mean, that’s the best part. The only thing I didn’t love about the product was the smell when I first applied it. It smells like alcohol.

Insecurities. We all have them. They come in different shapes and sizes. Do you ever feel like you have no talents? Maybe you feel like you don’t have a purpose. Like everyone else knows what they are doing in life and exactly what they want, and you’re completely in the dark about knowing who you are and what you want? Yeah. Me too. I’ve been there. You have all of these big dreams. Yet, you don’t know how to pursue them and you don’t believe in yourself enough to start reaching for the stars. Well, if any of that sounded exactly like how you feel, then this post is definitely for you. I’m going to give you tips on how to overcome your own insecurities and start believing in yourself so that you can go live the life you have always wanted but didn’t think you could have.

In order for me to educate you on overcoming your own insecurities I need to first tell you about some of mine and how I continue to move forward and overcome them. They say when you are a young child, you learn everything from your parental figures. Everything your parents do affects you as a child. Don’t get me wrong. I had an AMAZING childhood and I am so lucky. I grew up in a loving family and my parents taught me amazing things. However, everyone is human. My family had a lot of their own self-doubt. That self-doubt was passed onto me. My whole life I have been on a journey to overcome my insecurities and gain confidence in myself. I have started a million projects because I have so many ideas and I have moments where I believe I can do anything. I even went to two different colleges with two different majors because everything I started… I ended up quitting. I didn’t believe in myself. I had an idea of who I wanted to be. However, I didn’t believe I could be that person.

Now I am a twenty-five year old fashion graduate living in a town where there is not a huge demand for my fashion degree. You know what? That’s okay. It’s okay because everyday I am working on myself and my own insecurities so that I can create a life I love. You can create a life that you love as well once you push passed your insecurities.

So, how do you do this? First, you have to realize WHY you’re insecure. What are you insecure about? I want you to grab a super cute notebook (so that you’ll want to refer back to it) and write down in full detail every single last thing you are insecure about. This can be physical, mental, or spiritual. For example, maybe you are insecure about your thighs. Maybe you’re insecure about how you interact with other people? Whatever it is, write it down.

Okay, now that you are fully aware of your WHY, it’s time to write down your plans on how you can become secure about those things. This part is the challenge so I am going to give you an example from my own life. If you don’t want to listen to my boring sap story, you can skip the next paragraph.

Finances: I have recently been so insecure about my finances. In my mind, I am a twenty-five year old college graduate who is still BROKE! Not to mention, I am super in debt from school. I started to doubt myself and tell myself that I will never pay off my debt and I will never have financial freedom. All of my friends are becoming super successful and making all of this money and I’m over here drowning in debt living pay check to pay check. I was so down. I was defeated. That’s when it hit me. Is worrying about it and feeling defeated going to change the amount of debt I am in? No. I decided to let go. Is it going to be hard struggling financially? Of course, but life is worth so much more than dollar bills yo! Your life was made to LIVE. So, the first step to overcoming your insecurities is letting them go. Read my four tips below on how to start overcoming your insecurities.

Say your favorite mantra out loud

I’ve recently been learning about mantras and how they can help you overcome the struggles in your mind. You can see a killer mantra list here. One mantra that has truly helped me overcome my insecurities is this one.

“I deserve to be happy and feel good every day about all areas in my life.”

We only get one life. Make it count. You deserve happiness in all areas of your life. You can create happiness for yourself.

Create a gratitude list

I recently started writing gratitude lists. Normally, I will start one list per week and add to it as the week goes on and I come up with more amazing things in my life that I am grateful for. Creating a gratitude list helps you realize the great things you do have in your life. The less you dwell on the negative and the more you celebrate the positive the more confident and happy you will be.

How To Overcome Your Own Insecurities

Vision Board

This is one of my favorite things to do. I started vision boards when I was going through college. A vision board will help you get really clear on what you are working towards. You can create yours by cutting out photos in a magazine and pasting them to a board. OR you can create one by grabbing google images and uploading them to Canva. You will want to grab photos of the things you aspire to be or things you want to someday have. These can be materialistic things or meaningful things. You can see mine below. 🙂 The fun part about this is that you can dream away! Nothing is too big. Place that photo of a mansion on your vision board or a fun vacation you want to someday take. Visualize what you want in your life. This will allow you to gain confidence by sharing your dreams with yourself. You can see mine as an example below.

Take Action

Now it’s time to take action. Great confidence doesn’t come over night. It is a work in progress. It’s time to commit to being more confident and overcoming your insecurities. Remember, you are amazing. You have amazing things to offer. You have an amazing life to live. So, get out there and start living! Every time I start doubting myself I think back to who I used to be and how insecurities do nothing but harm me. I remind myself of the amazing things I have to offer and I say my mantras out loud.
